In the next few weeks, over 1.5 million students will have completed their bachelor’s degree. Parents and students, as you hang that degree on the wall it may be time for a review of your home insurance and auto insurance. As students move out on their own it becomes important to consider these different insurance coverages.
Renter’s or Homeowner’s Insurance
As you move out of that college dorm and into an apartment, you will need to consider a renter’s policy that will cover your personal property. If you are buying a home you will need homeowner’s insurance.
Auto Insurance
Students, if you are on your own and have moved out of your parent's home, auto insurance should be on your “to-do” list. Auto insurance covers your legal liability if you injure a third party and can also cover damage to your auto.
Health Insurance
As students move out on their own, the need for health and/or medical insurance becomes very important. It might take you a number of months to find a job with health benefits. So now is the time to obtain the proper health insurance. If you are under the age of 26 you can still be part of your parents plan.
